The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) has announced the appointment of Datuk Ahmad Hizzad bin Baharuddin as its new Chairman for a two-year term, according to a 13 November press release.
His term will run from 15 November 2025 to 14 November 2027.
Datuk Hizzad currently serves as Chairman of FWD Takaful Berhad and KAF Digital Bank Berhad, and sits on the board of Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad.
His appointment marks a return to the Authority, where he had previously served as Director General between 2011 and 2017.
Datuk Hizzad brings more than 32 years of experience from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), where he held senior positions across the Islamic Banking and Takaful, Financial Sector Development, and Payment Systems departments. He was appointed Assistant Governor of BNM in 2014 and served until his retirement in 2018.
Commenting on the appointment, Labuan FSA’s Director General, Affendi Rashdi, said: “Datuk Hizzad’s extensive experience at BNM, coupled with his leadership as the former Director General of Labuan FSA, provides him with a deep understanding of the Labuan IBFC financial industry. His breadth of knowledge and experience makes him highly suited to serve as the Chairman of Labuan FSA.”
The Authority also expressed its appreciation to former Chairman Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Bin Che Wan Othman Fadzilah, who retired in 2024, for his leadership and contributions during his tenure.
