Budi Herawan, chairman of the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI), has been appointed chairman of the ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) for 2026, marking Indonesia’s latest senior leadership role in the regional insurance industry, the AAUI announced on LinkedIn.
Herawan has led AAUI from 2023, overseeing initiatives focused on industry coordination, regulatory alignment, and sector development. During his tenure, the association prioritised the expansion of microinsurance, particularly for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as part of efforts to increase insurance penetration and financial inclusion.
The chairman also played a central role in aligning general insurers and reinsurers with Indonesia’s 2023–2027 Insurance Roadmap, which sets out development priorities for the sector.
Under Herawan’s leadership, AAUI coordinated industry engagement with the roadmap’s implementation, supporting regulatory consistency and long-term market development.
