Agile Insurance Group has announced promotions within the underwriting leadership team, effective immediately, as part its growth strategy in Australia and New Zealand, the managing general agent (MGA) announced in a press release on Friday.

Mark Hunt moves up to group chief underwriting officer, having been an active underwriter for Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate 2427 since its inception in 2024. He will oversee all underwriting activities, including the syndicate, service companies, and MGA operations across Australia, London, and New Zealand.

He has more than four decades of underwriting experience, with over 27 years at Lloyd’s before relocating to Australia in 2011 and 15 years of underwriting management in Australia.

Meanwhile, Mike Dalton, current group head of aviation, takes on an additional role as head of underwriting for Australia to help manage and support the underwriting teams in the country.

A licenced commercial pilot, Dalton has 32 years of experience in aviation underwriting and class-of-business management in Australia and New Zealand.

The business also announced that David Hughes, previously Syndicate 2427 deputy active underwriter, is stepping into the Syndicate 2427 active underwriter position and will continue to represent the syndicate across all classes in the London market.

“These promotions demonstrate the depth of talent we have in the team and provides team members the freedom to develop a broader vision,” Robin Barham, CEO of Agile, said, commenting on the promotions. “I’m particularly delighted that we’re able to promote internally and to create opportunities for other team members.”
