Cowbell has appointed Gerry Power as general manager, Australia, as it builds out a broker-focused cyber insurance operation in the market, the cyber managing general agent (MGA) announced on Monday.

Power joins the managing general agent from Power Insurance Consulting, his own insurance consultancy. Earlier, he also served as head of sales at Emergence Insurance.

Power brings more than 35 years of experience across underwriting, distribution, and governance. He previously held underwriting roles for firms such as CGU and Zurich Insurance. He also held leadership positions at Dexta Corporation, Macquarie Underwriting, and AMP.

The newly created role will see Power lead market development, distribution strategy, and the build-out of local operations, working closely with brokers, Cowbell said.

He will also work alongside Anthony Wall, Cowbell’s head of underwriting for Australia, to support underwriting discipline and alignment with the group’s global risk approach.

Commenting on the appointment, Jack Kudale, Cowbell’s founder and chief executive, said: “Australia is a key market for Cowbell as we continue to expand internationally. Gerry brings deep market experience and strong broker relationships, which are critical to building a cyber insurance business that is both practical and responsive to local needs.”
