Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has launched the second edition of the ASEAN Life Insurance Leadership Program (ALIP) 2026 in Bangkok, bringing together insurance regulators, life insurers and industry associations from across the region.

The five-day programme, organised in collaboration with the Life Insurance Fund and the Thai Life Assurance Association, focuses on how the life insurance sector can respond to demographic shifts linked to ageing populations across ASEAN markets.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, OIC secretary-general Chuchatr Pramoolpol said the insurance industry must evolve beyond its traditional role as a product provider and contribute more broadly to long-term financial resilience and wellness planning.

The programme’s agenda includes discussions on emerging risk trends, artificial intelligence adoption, data security, customer transformation and long-term sustainability within the insurance sector.

Delegates from ASEAN member states are participating alongside representatives from South Korea and Hong Kong, with the initiative aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing among regulators and life insurance executives.

The launch forms part of Thailand’s 5th Insurance Development Plan for 2026–2030, which includes efforts to promote insurance innovation, InsurTech adoption and cross-border regulatory collaboration.
