Miller has appointed Nick Taylor as Head of Direct P&I, the specialist (re)insurance broker said on October 6, as it builds out its marine protection and indemnity (P&I) capabilities.
Taylor joins from NorthStandard, where he oversaw the club’s small ship P&I business as Head of Coastal and Island. Before that, he held several senior positions at Standard Club, leading projects including the creation of an Irish insurer after Brexit and the separation of the club’s management from Charles Taylor.
With over 15 years of experience across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, and seven years leading Standard Club’s Asia-Pacific underwriting operations from Singapore, Taylor will report to Nick Summers, Head of Direct Marine.
“The marine sector faces a complex risk environment, and I look forward to working closely with Nick [Summers] and the team to further expand Miller’s offering to meet the changing needs of the maritime insurance market,” Taylor said.
The appointment comes amid a period of continued expansion for Miller, which has recently strengthened its leadership across Asia and specialty lines. In the past three months, the broker has named Midori Katayama as Head of Japan Desk in Singapore, KS Shim as Head of Specialty at Miller Korea, Tam Hui Von as Reinsurance Broker in Singapore, and Paul Cumberland to the newly created global role of Chief Broking Officer.
