AXA XL has announced the appointment of Adias Gerbaud as its new Chief Underwriting Officer for APAC & Europe and XL Insurance Company SE (XLICSE), pending regulatory approval.
Gerbaud is currently AXA XL’s Chief Operating Officer, XLICSE for AsiaPac & Europe. Having been with the (re)insurer since 2007, Gerbaud will bring vast industry and company expertise to her new position.
She will step into a pivotal role responsible for shaping core underwriting strategies, refining the suite of product offerings, and spearheading profitability across AXA XL’s operations across Asia, Australia, and Europe.
This move comes as her predecessor, Etienne Champion, transitions to a new role with AXA Group as P&C Commercial Lines Group Chief Underwriting Officer.
Xavier Veyry, Chief Executive Officer for APAC & Europe at AXA XL, expressed confidence in Mrs Gerbaud’s appointment, commenting, “I’m delighted that Adias is taking on the role of Chief Underwriting Officer for APAC & Europe.
As a senior insurance leader who spent most of her 16-year tenure at AXA XL in underwriting, she is ideally positioned to lead our Business Unit’s underwriting community at a time when we are looking to grow.”
Prior to her post as Chief Operating Officer for APAC & Europe and XLICSE, Gerbaud accumulated 12 years of experience as an Environmental Liability underwriter, during which she held senior roles including Underwriting Manager for Environmental insurance in Southern Europe & Latin America, and Head of International Environmental.
