Wai Har Soo has been named as chief executive officer of Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad (Berjaya Sompo), effective 1 April 2026, succeeding Sek Kee Tan, who is retiring, the company announced on LinkedIn on Thursday.

Soo moves from her role as chief executive officer of Generali Malaysia, bringing with her more than 30 years of experience, including previous posts as Chief Commercial Lines Officer at AXA and Head of Commercial lines and Deputy CEO at AIG.

In her new role, she reports to Kenneth Reilly, CEO, Insurance, of Sompo Asia-Pacific.

Tan, who has been CEO of Berjaya Sompo since 2017, will stay with the company until June 2026 to ensure a seamless transition with Soo.

Soo’s move follows appointments by Sompo across APAC this month: Francis Lim as financial lines lead in Singapore, Alice Sun as senior casualty underwriter in Hong Kong, and See Ju Chua’s promotion to chief financial officer, also in Singapore.
