Suncorp Group chief executive officer Steve Johnston has stepped back from his role temporarily to recover from a medical procedure, the insurer said in an exchange statement on Friday.

Chief financial officer Jeremy Robson will serve as acting CEO during Johnston’s absence, with Neil Wesley, currently executive general manager of strategy, corporate development and investor relations, moving into the acting CFO role for the duration.

“Suncorp today announces that its CEO, Steve Johnston, will be taking a short period of temporary leave as he
recuperates from a medical procedure. The Board wishes Steve a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
