Allianz Trade has launched Specialty Credit Social2Social, a new insurance solution designed to support projects with positive social outcomes by protecting corporates, banks, and public actors against non-payment and political risks, the company announced on Tuesday.

Specialty Credit Socil2Social targets transactions linked to affordable basic infrastructure, essential services, affordable housing, and socioeconomic advancement in underdeveloped or disadvantaged communities. It also commits to reinvest all premiums received from Social2Social policies into certified social bonds.

The new product enables multinationals, financial institutions, export credit agencies, and multilaterals to manage risks such as non-payment, contract interruption, and confiscation. It also allows them to manage their exposures as they take advantage of opportunities in new markets that deliver measurable social benefits.

Pierre Lamourelle, deputy global head of specialty credit and midterm at Allianz Trade, said the solution responds to rising complexity in managing political risk, long-term transactions, and concentrated exposures.

Florence Lecoutre, board member in charge of sustainability, data analytics and AI at Allianz Trade, explained that the model creates a circular impact by combining underwriting with responsible investment. Every transaction is subject to a rigorous sustainability assessment to ensure that it meets Allianz Trade’s social criteria and contributes to outcomes such as new schools, hospitals, and essential public services, according to the insurer.

Aylin Somersan Coqui, Allianz Trade chief executive officer, said Social2Social builds on the insurer’s earlier Green2Green initiative and has been certified as a sustainable solution under the Allianz Group framework.

“With Social2Social, we approach sustainability in its virtuous scope, with social responsibility at its core,” she said. “It’s an instrumental milestone in our efforts to align financial security with sustainability principles.”
