Chubb elevates APAC Head Paul McNamee to President of Overseas General Insurance

Having served as President of APAC since 2016, McNamee will now oversee Chubb's GI operations in 51 countries outside of North America.

Chubb has announced that Paul McNamee has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President of Overseas General Insurance, with immediate effect.

Prior to the promotion, McNamee had served as Senior Vice President of Chubb Group and Regional President of Asia Pacific since 2016.

In his new role, McNamee reports to Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and John Keogh, President and Chief Operating Officer.

He will be based in New York and oversee Chubb’s general insurance operations in 51 countries outside North America. He succeeds Juan Luis Ortega, who has been named President of Chubb’s North America Insurance operations.

Chubb also announced that Marcos Gunn has been appointed as the new head of Asia Pacific, with immediate effect. Gunn had been serving as Regional President of Latin America and will relocate from Miami to Singapore for the new role, in which he will report to McNamee.

Through his years of experience, [McNamee] has acquired a great ability to manage a wide variety of commercial and consumer businesses across countries and cultures. He finds a way to win.”

McNamee has nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career in 1995 with Cigna Corporation’s International operations in Australia, later acquired by Chubb (ACE), where he was named Head of Property and Technical Lines for Asia Pacific in 2002.

He served as Chief Operating Officer for Chubb’s business in Hong Kong before being posted to London in 2005 as Executive Vice President and head of the company’s International Property & Technical Lines business.

He became President of Chubb’s North America Property & Specialty Lines from 2009 to 2013 and then served as Deputy Regional President and Executive Vice President, Commercial Property & Casualty, Asia Pacific, from 2013 to 2016.

On McNamee’s appointment, Keogh commented, “Paul is a proven insurance executive and a true internationalist. He has proven himself in multiple regions of the world, including Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. This is an exceptional opportunity for Paul to now profitably grow our entire international general insurance franchise.”
