Daniel Neo has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors for Swiss Re Asia Pte. Ltd. (SRAL), effective 1 June 2026, the company announced on Friday.
Neo is currently an independent director and chair of the risk committee at MS First Capital in Singapore, and an advisor for Asia business at Samsung Fire & Marine. Most recently, he served as CEO Asia-Pacific of Sompo Holdings, where he oversaw operations across 13 countries.
He has over 20 years of C-suite level board and governance experience and brings deep regional expertise, having held senior leadership roles across multiple markets including Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore.
Welcoming Neo to the board, Deanna Ong, chairperson of the Board of Directors for SRAL, said Neo brings “extensive leadership experience in the insurance sector across Asia and a strong background in governance and risk management. His expertise will complement the board’s capabilities and support Swiss Re’s business ambitions and strategy in the region.”
Neo’s addition to the reinsurer’s board follows leadership changes across Swiss Re in APAC since the beginning of the month, including the promotion of Yusuke Matsumoto to head of facultative reinsurance APAC and Trent Thomson to head of global specialty, effective 1 July 2026, and the appointment of Zoe Pearn as Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ head of operations for Australia and New Zealand.
