Generali-backed The Human Safety Net Foundation launched an initiative in Thailand’s Samut Prakan, in conjunction with local NGO the Community Children Foundation (CCF), which aims to empower disadvantaged Gen Y/Gen Z parents in the local area.
The Human Safety Net Thailand will be working with CCF, an organisation under the patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on providing a six-session parenting programme, the Smart Seeds Model, to parents at selected local schools in the Samut Prakan province near Bangkok.
The programme educates parents on a number of areas including: nutrition, emotional development, fostering language development, and creativity; developing motor skills and social skills; promoting confidence, self-focus, and concentration; and improving hand-eye coordination and visual specific skills.
In a release announcing the move, The Human Safety Net said that the programme aims to engage Gen Z and Gen Y parents in the greater Bangkok area, to ensure they are well-equipped for their children’s healthy development.
Generation Y, or those born between 1980 and 1997, and Generation Z, or those born between 1998 and 2024, constitute a significant portion of Thailand’s population, with an estimated 21.7 million individuals.
“Traditional childcare models often fail to resonate with these disadvantaged Gen Y and Gen Z parents while they seek solutions that complement their living conditions, busy schedules, values, and technological savviness,” the Human Safety Net said in its press release.
The Human Safety Net operates in 25 countries in Europe, South America and Asia, where it collaborates with a network of 77 NGO partners.
The CCF has been operating in Thailand since 1957 and has a mission to empower disadvantaged children and their families to reach their full potential and works in three areas: education, and life skills; health, hygiene, nutrition, and environment; and food security and livelihood.
