Howden has announced the appointment of Jean Bayon de La Tour as its new International Head of Cyber.
Bayon de La Tour, who has a comprehensive background in banking and wealth management alongside his significant experience in cyber insurance broking, moves to Howden from Marsh, where he was Head of Cyber for Europe.
He will be based in Spain and report directly to Shay Simkin, Group Global Head of Cyber at Howden.
Simkin said that as the market adapts to a fluid and “highly charged threat environment,” Howden is supporting its clients on their cyber journey. “To achieve this, our strategy is to attract the best talent in the market, and we are delighted to welcome Jean to the Howden family,” he added.
Bayon de La Tour, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity: “I have witnessed the exceptional growth of the Cyber insurance market for more than a decade first-hand.
By tackling key challenges around distribution, tail-risk and capital, the market is on the cusp of transformational growth, and I am looking forward to working across Howden’s international footprint in this next exciting chapter.”
The hire comes in the context of the rapidly growing cyber insurance space. In Howden’s 2023 Cyber Report, the global broker forces the market to grow significantly in the coming years, from US$12bn in 2012 to an anticipated US$50bn by 2030.
