Market Lane Insurance Group has appointed Jo Mason as managing director of its New Zealand business, effective 28 April 2026, the company announced on LinkedIn on Thursday.

Mason joins the managing general agent (MGA) from McDonald Everest Insurance Brokers, where she most recently served as director. She brings 40 years of experience, having held senior leadership roles at NZbrokers Management, Allianz Australia, and IAG.

Mason will be based in Auckland for her new role.

“She is a highly respected, customer-driven insurance leader with a proven track record of delivering strong financial and non-financial results, while building sustainable partnerships with intermediaries to optimise organisational performance,” Market Lane said.

“Widely recognised for her commercial judgement, visionary thinking and authentic leadership style, Jo brings significant P&L accountability experience and a reputation for pragmatic, solutions-focused decision-making,” the MGA added.

Mason’s move follows Kaleb Forster’s appointment as an underwriter in the MGA’s liability team in Melbourne, announced last month. It also comes after a series of recent strategic changes over the last year, including taking on ARAG’s legal expenses insurance portfolio in Australia, the introduction of a standalone legal expenses product, and the launch of ML Specialty.
