Noel MacCarthy retires after 25 years with Liberty Mutual

McCarthy was one of Liberty's first employees in APAC and signficantly shaped the company's casualty insurance business in the region.

Seasoned casualty insurance professional Noel MacCarthy has retired after a notable 25-year career with Liberty Mutual.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Liberty praised MacCarthy as a pivotal figure who has been highly influential in shaping the business, particularly in Asia Pacific.

MacCarthy was one of the first employees in the region and played a key role in developing hard to place insurance solutions for businesses.

His efforts were instrumental in supporting brokers at times when other insurers had exited the market, thereby laying the foundation for Liberty’s current operations, the business said.

“Although in official retirement, we expect to see Noel pop up for a few special Liberty projects here and there,” the company concluded.

McCarthy received a flood of widespread praise from the industry, with comments from senior leaders and industry practitioners from across the globe praising him as a “legend of the casualty market,” an “immense insurance professional,” and a “phenomenal leader and mentor”
