Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has announced the appointment of Yixiang Yang as Head of Accident and Health, APAC, with immediate effect.

This appointment is part of a series of strategic hires for TMK in Singapore aimed at maintaining growth momentum in the region, with the insurer aiming to double premiums written through its Lloyd’s Asia platform by 2027.

Yang brings nearly two decades of underwriting experience in the APAC region to TMK and joins from Zurich, where he served as Business Head for Accident and Health in Singapore.

“Yixiang is a recognised expert in A&H, who brings the requisite underwriting expertise, commercial acumen and entrepreneurial flair to accelerate our growth and deepen our presence in target markets across Asia.”

During his time at Zurich, he led the A&H team and managed a book that doubled in size, TMK said. Prior to Zurich, Yang was a Distribution Manager at AXA, focusing on health and lifestyle.

Pavlos Spyropoulos, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific, commented, “Yixiang is a recognised expert in A&H, who brings the requisite underwriting expertise, commercial acumen and entrepreneurial flair to accelerate our growth and deepen our presence in target markets across Asia. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team.”

Spyropoulos added that Accident and Health is a key line of business for TMK in Singapore and an integral part of its growth strategy.

“We have been writing A&H on the Lloyd’s Asia platform for more than a decade and are rightly regarded as a leader in the class, due, in no small part, to the strength of our claims function,” he said.

“A&H will also be a key driver in meeting our growth ambitions of doubling the size of our Lloyd’s Asia platform by 2027.”
