Zurich Financial Services Australia announced on Thursday the promotion of James Garett to Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for Australia and New Zealand, effective 16 June.

He succeeds Theo Pitsikas, who concurrently was announced as the new Head of SME, APAC, effective the same date.

Sydney-based Garett has been with Zurich for more than 12 years, holding various positions in SME underwriting. His most recent role was Digital Portfolio Manager, where he was responsible for a large portfolio of SME customers.

Zurich’s Head of General Insurance, Alex Morgan, said Garett “will be responsible for evolving our customer offering, engaging closely with brokers, and accelerating technological investment.”

Morgan added, “[Garett] brings a wealth of SME experience and understanding to this role, including more than a decade of developing local broker relationships. This will bring both continuity and a fresh perspective as we seek to further advance our proposition and competitive position.”
