XS Global has named Phillip Brain as its regional accident and health (A&H) underwriting manager and Wendy Law as regional casualty underwriting manager for Asia, the independently owned managing general agent (MGA) platform announced on LinkedIn.
The appointments come on the heels of the firm’s launch of XS Global Asia-Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong this month, a licensed multiline MGA with Lloyd’s of London coverholder status, headed by Asia-Pacific chief executive Steven Barnett, formerly regional CEO for Asia-Pacific at AIG.
Brain joins the company from Arma Underwriting Limited, where he most recently served as head of A&H for Asia. With more than two decades of experience, primarily in the A&H sector, he has held senior underwriting and distribution roles at leading firms such as AIG, Chubb, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, QBE Asia, and Everest.
“He is widely recognised for his ability to balance strong technical underwriting discipline with a client-first mindset, delivering innovative solutions that are both financially sound and tailored to the evolving needs of businesses and individuals from large treaty opportunities to micro-insurance solutions,” XS Global stated in its post.
Meanwhile, Law moves from Generali Global Corporate & Commercial, where she most recently led its casualty underwriting in Asia, operating out of Hong Kong. As a chartered insurer, she brings casualty and liability underwriting expertise, having previously worked for Starr Insurance, Tokio Marine Kiln, and XL Catlin.
“We are excited to welcome Wendy to the XS Global team as we continue to strengthen our casualty capabilities and regional presence in Asia,” XS Global added.
