Hannover Re has named Kun Huang as its new CEO for China, the company said on LinkedIn on Monday.

Huang brings extensive reinsurance and insurance experience to the role, joining from the China Re Group where he has worked since 2002, according to his LinkedIn profile.

During his tenure at China Re, he has held several senior positions, including chief liaison officer for Chaucer Syndicates, director of the Risk Management department, and managing director of China Re Underwriting Agency. He holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from Hunan University.

In its announcement, Hannover Re welcomed Huang to the business, stating that he is “widely respected for his strategic insight, collaborative leadership, and deep industry expertise.”

The announcement follows a recent appointment made by the reinsurer this month, when it named John Walters as the new managing director for its Australasia life business. Hannover Re also made several other key appointments last year, including Yan Sun as Head of Life & Health for Greater China and the promotion of Kantaporn Thejatunga to GM of its Malaysia branch.
