QBE Insurance Group has appointed Christopher Harris as an independent non-executive director, with the appointment due to take effect on 6 July 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, according to a stock exchange announcement on 11 June.
Harris currently serves as chair of QBE Capital, a position he has held since May 2025. He is also chief executive officer and a board member of specialty reinsurer Monarch Point Re.
He brings more than three decades of insurance and reinsurance industry experience. Prior to joining Monarch Point Re, Harris spent more than 13 years at Montpelier Re, where he held a series of senior leadership positions including chief actuary, chief risk officer and chief underwriting officer before being appointed chief executive officer in 2008.
In addition to his executive roles, Harris serves on the board of Catalina Holdings and is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
QBE chair Yasmin Allen said Harris brings expertise in capital allocation, risk management and underwriting, together with extensive executive and board-level experience across the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
The appointment forms part of QBE’s ongoing board succession and renewal efforts. Allen said Harris’s experience as chair of QBE Capital and his familiarity with the group would enable him to make an immediate contribution to the board.
