Aviva has appointed Jill Stewart as head of Australia for Probitas Pacific, following Max Broodryk’s decision to leave the business, the insurer said on Wednesday.
Broodryk, currently country manager for Probitas Pacific, will stay until 1 Sep 2026 to support a transition for brokers and clients.
Stewart most recently led Willis Towers Watson’s Australasia FINEX business and will take up her new role from 13 Jul, reporting to Belinda Steedman, director of global propositions. She brings experience from the UK and Australian insurance markets and has led financial lines and specialty portfolios across the London market and Asia Pacific.
Steedman thanked Broodryk for his contributions and support during the transition period. “Max has played a key role in establishing and leading Probitas Pacific in Australia and supporting its successful integration into Aviva.”
Welcoming Stewart to the team, Steedman said: “She brings deep expertise across both broking and underwriting and is well placed to build on our strong foundations in Australia and continue delivering for our brokers and clients.”
“There is no change to our strategy or direction in Australia. Probitas Pacific will continue to operate as usual, with a clear focus on supporting brokers and clients and maintaining the strong momentum we are building in the market,” she added.
Aviva completed its £249m acquisition of Probitas on 10 Jul 2024, giving it a Lloyd’s platform to sit alongside its existing operations and extending its reach in specialty lines.
