Howden Insurance Brokers Australia has appointed Catherine Osborne as head of technical and claims, the company announced on LinkedIn on Thursday.

Osborne joins the business after over four years at Marsh Risk, the global insurance broking and risk management business of Marsh, most recently serving as chief claims officer for the Pacific region. Earlier in her career, she also worked at Polczynski Robinson and Meridian Lawyers.

Osborne holds experience spanning insurance law, claims leadership and governance.

“Her expertise, strategic insight and commitment to client service further strengthen our ability to support clients when it matters most,” Howden said in its announcement.

Osbourne’s appointment is the latest in a series of recent senior Asia-Pacific hires Howden has made, several of whom are from rival broker Marsh. Earlier this week, the broker expanded its Australian sport and entertainment practice, hiring Simon Calabrese as head of entertainment and leisure, along with four senior associates.

Elsewhere, Howden hired Abhinav Gujral as president and head of strategic initiatives for employee benefits in India. The broker has also appointed Akihisa Hirata head of construction and infrastructure assets in Japan and appointed Sonija Cheng as director of financial lines in Hong Kong.
