Munich Re Specialty has appointed Johnny Ng as underwriter, direct and facultative property, for its Lloyd’s syndicate business in Singapore, the company announced on Tuesday (22 September).

Ng joins from Aon, where he was an associate director in the complex property broking team. Before Aon, he spent four years at Talbot Risk Services in Singapore, and previously had stints at JLT Group and Howden.

He brings experience from underwriting and broking roles across property, casualty, political violence and terrorism insurance.

“Johnny’s appointment reinforces our commitment to expanding our distribution network and product offering in this key market,” the specialty insurer said on LinkedIn. “It will also enhance the support we provide to businesses across the Asia-Pacific region, complementing our existing Lloyd’s appetite.”

Munich Re Specialty’s Lloyd’s business has launched several new products this year, including a parametric earthquake cover for corporates in Japan and a Lloyd’s-first rescue cover for tunnelling projects. Elsewhere in the region, the specialty arm is also setting up a property, construction and engineering team in Australia led by Bob Algie.
