Aon has named Rishi Mehra as the Head of its India operations. He will transition to his new role immediately and relocate to Mumbai by mid-2024, according to a company announcement.

Mehra reports directly to Anne Corona, CEO of Asia Pacific and will join Aon’s Asia Pacific Executive Committee and the Global Executive Leadership Team as part of the move.

He will also work closely with Jon Pipe, CEO and principal officer of Aon India Insurance Brokers, and Nitin Sethi, CEO of Aon Consulting Private Limited. Together, they aim to unify Aon’s services in Risk, Health, Wealth, and Talent consulting under one leadership model.

Another key part of Mehra’s role will be to oversee the integration of Global Insurance Brokers, the Aon acquisition announced in October last year. This move, expected to be completed in 2024, will enhance Aon’s service capabilities in India, consolidating an integrated team of over 1,000 colleagues.

Corona expressed her enthusiasm for Mehra’s appointment, commenting, “I am delighted to unite India under Rishi’s leadership. His business acumen, combined with his experience as CFO will accelerate our ability to deliver Aon United capabilities to our clients.”

Mehra brings significant experience to his new role, having joined Aon in 2003. He has held several senior finance positions within the company, most recently serving as chief financial officer for Asia and Greater China. Before his tenure at Aon, Mehra worked at PepsiCo and PWC in India, focusing on consulting and business planning.

Mehra said he was very excited and humbled to be joining Aon, adding, “We have so much opportunity ahead of us in a very unique and thriving economy, and I look forward to working with the team to unlock India’s growth potential leveraging our Risk Capital and Human Capital capabilities to deliver insights and scalable solutions to help our clients make better decisions to protect and grow their businesses.”
