Howden Re announced on Friday (31 May) that David Hearn has been appointed Chairman of Global Clients Strategy.

As Chairman, Hearn will support leadership and client service teams across the spectrum of risk and strategic advisory. This will involve advising large, multi-product insurance companies with international operations and complex coverage needs, Howden Re said.

Hearn brings over 42 years of experience in global reinsurance broking to his role and comes out of retirement to take on the new challenge. He most recently served as Executive Vice President at Guy Carpenter, where he was part of the global account advisory group. Prior, Hearn held a similar role at Willis Re from 1994 to 2015.

Tim Ronda, CEO of Howden Re, stated, “We are very pleased to welcome David to Howden Re. Our clients are navigating a world of converging change, uncertainty, and risk. Adding David’s expertise and leadership abilities, gained over a four-plus decade reinsurance career, is a testament to our relentless focus on elevated client service and outcomes.”

Hearn commented, “Howden Re has made impressive progress around the world in a short period – the business is on a growth trajectory that I have not seen in a very long time.

Coming out of retirement required joining a team that is truly special and focused on the critical disciplines required to be successful in the reinsurance brokerage business.”
