HSBC on Wednesday (24 July) announced the appointment of Daisy Tsang as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HSBC Life Hong Kong, effective 1 August 2024, pending regulatory approval.

Tsang has served as Interim CEO and Chief Distribution and Customer Officer of HSBC Life HK since April and has over two decades of experience with the HSBC Group.

She takes over the role from Edward Moncreiffe, who was elevated to General Manager and CEO of Global Insurance in April.

HSBC said in a statement that Tsang will manage the company’s operations in both Hong Kong and Macau, reporting to Moncreiffe and Maggie Ng, General Manager of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC Hong Kong.

I am confident that Daisy… will provide both continuity and ambition to accelerate our growth and to capture the rising demand for insurance protection and wealth preservation within the Greater Bay Area and serve our customers with excellence.

Edward Moncreiffe

General Manager and CEO, Global Insurance

On Tsang’s promotion, Moncreiffe commented, “I am confident that with Daisy’s extensive experience across insurance and banking distribution, product development, business strategy, marketing, and customer experience, she will provide both continuity and ambition to accelerate our growth and to capture the rising demand for insurance protection and wealth preservation within the Greater Bay Area and serve our customers with excellence.”

Tsang originally joined the HSBC Group in Hong Kong as a marketing executive in 2000.

Since joining HSBC Life in 2012, she has made significant contributions, including leading the successful relaunch of the Macau distribution arm, expanding the insurer’s broker channel and bancassurance model, and implementing numerous digital transformation initiatives, HSBC said.

Ng said, “Daisy’s expertise will help ensure we are able to support the range of retirement, health and protection needs of our customers across personal banking, Premier, Premier Elite and Private Banking. We look forward to her leading HSBC Life Hong Kong to new heights.”

On her new role, Tsang commented, “I am honoured to lead one of Asia’s most trusted insurance brands and a significant, fast-growing business within the HSBC Group. Alongside our dedicated team of insurance professionals, I look forward to upholding HSBC Life Hong Kong’s commitment to serving the protection, health, retirement, and legacy needs of our customers throughout their lifetime.”
