Generali Malaysia has officially appointed Tony Lin as chief executive officer of Generali Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad, the company announced on Friday.
Lin has been leading the business as officer-in-charge and previously served as chief financial officer after joining Generali Malaysia in February 2024.
He has more than 25 years of financial services experience across insurance and takaful. Before joining Generali, Lin spent over five years with Hong Leong MSIG Takaful, including as chief financial officer. Earlier in his career, he held audit and senior finance roles at Hong Leong Assurance, Manulife, Great Eastern Life and EY.
“Tony brings deep industry expertise, strong leadership, and a clear vision,” Generali said, adding that he will lead the life insurance business as it focuses on operational performance, customer-centric innovation and sustainable growth.
Lin takes charge of the life business at a point when Asia is a strong contributor to Generali’s life results. Group life premiums rose 7.5% to €17.2bn in Q1 2026, with the insurer pointing to savings growth in Asia as a key driver. The group has been building out its regional leadership, with recent appointments including Kai Ao as head of business development for Asia at Generali Global Corporate & Commercial and Shobit Gupta as chief investment officer at Generali Central Life in India.
