Global insurtech bolttech has appointed Rohith Murthy as general manager for Malaysia, as it expands its regional leadership team, the company said on Friday.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Murthy brings more than 20 years of experience in digital financial services, banking and product innovation across Asia and Europe.

He joins from MoneyHero Group, where he most recently served as chief executive. The appointment comes months after bolttech was reported to be in takeover talks with the Nasdaq-listed financial comparison platform.

Before joining MoneyHero, Murthy held senior leadership positions at Citibank, Siam Commercial Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.

Emma Butler, regional general manager for Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam at bolttech, said Murthy’s deep experience would support the company’s business and partnerships in the region.

Murthy’s appointment comes days after bolttech named Kohei Watanabe general manager for Japan to lead its business strategy including profit and loss across domestic and international operations.
