Markel has appointed Wanshi Lin in the newly-created position as the Head of Singapore, effective immediately, the company announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Lin, who first joined the (re)insurer in 2018, will manage the underwriting team in Singapore and lead business planning and market engagement on the business’s Lloyd’s Singapore platform, Markel said. In her role, she reports to Christian Stobbs, Managing Director for Asia Pacific.

I’m confident that, under her leadership, we’ll further enhance our relationships with brokers and clients while building on the strong momentum achieved in recent years.”

“Singapore is our largest marketplace in the region for specialty products, and I’m confident that, under her leadership, we’ll further enhance our relationships with brokers and clients while building on the strong momentum achieved in recent years,” Stobbs said.

Kevin Leung, Chief Underwriting Officer, Asia Pacific, added that Lin’s “extensive experience, strategic insight and understanding of the Singapore market” would be instrumental in strengthening Markel’s commitment to “providing underwriting excellence to this important regional hub.”

Lin originally joined Markel as Assistant Underwriter, Marine, before being promoted to Senior Underwriter, Marine, in 2023.

Prior to joining the business, she has held positions including Assistant Vice President at Marsh and Assistant Manager at shipbuilding business CIMC Raffles. She is also currently a member of the Singapore Shipping Association – Legal and Insurance Committee, according to LinkedIn.
