Prudential has appointed Dr. Guido Fürer as a Non-executive Director, as Amy Yip prepares to retire from the Board after 6 years, the company announced on Tuesday, 1 July.
Fürer has an extensive background in the insurance and asset management industries across international markets, according to Prudential. As a non-executive director, he will join the Audit and Risk committees.
Bringing over 25 years of experience, Fürer served as Group Chief Investment Officer and was a member of the Swiss Re Group Executive Committee for 11 years. He is currently a Non-executive Director of Baloise Group and Committee Chair for Risk and Investment.
Fürer previously worked at FWD Insurance in Hong Kong as a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Risk Committee. From 1991 to 1996, Fürer was also a director at Swiss Bank Corp / O’Connor and Associates in options trading and capital markets.
Shriti Vadera, Prudential Chair, welcomed Fürer on the board, saying: “Guido brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, including in respect of asset management, insurance and asset-liability management, from both a distinguished executive career and from his global board experience.”
Yip meanwhile will step down from the Prudential Board, effective 31 October. She was appointed to the Board in 2019, where she served as a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committee.
Before joining Prudential, Yip was the Chief Executive of DBS Bank in Hong Kong, leading its wealth and asset management groups.
Commenting on her departure, Vadera said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Amy for her valuable contribution in helping the Board to guide and oversee the Group through a period of significant change.”
