Ang Yien Chia has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer at MSIG Malaysia, effective 3 July, succeeding the retiring Chua Seck Guan, the general insurer stated in a media release on Tuesday (8 July).

Ang has been with MSIG Malaysia for nearly three decades, having worked in strategic roles in East and Peninsular Malaysia, with the company stating she has played a key role in the Senior Management Team for the past 8 years, helping to shape the company’s direction across agency, bancassurance, broking, direct corporate, and affinity partnerships.

Chua retired on 2 July after 42 years in the insurance industry and will transition into a senior advisory role.

He spent 15 years at MSIG Malaysia, leading digital transformation and data analytics initiatives, and the development of motor and fire products. In its announcement, the insurer also recognised Chua’s role in maintaining the company’s underwriting profitability and strong financial performance throughout his tenure.

Commenting on his retirement, Chua expressed his gratitude to MSIG for their trust and support. “I leave confident that MSIG Malaysia will continue to thrive and grow under Ms. Ang’s capable leadership.”

Ang said she hopes to build on the “strong foundation laid by Chua” over the last four decades. “My focus will be on driving continued innovation, enhancing customer satisfaction, and further strengthening MSIG Malaysia’s market position while preserving the culture of excellence and teamwork that has made us successful.”

MSIG Malaysia is a subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, with operations in more than 41 countries.

In May, MSIG Asia also announced key promotions to enhance its digital and corporate capacity: Adrian Hill as Chief Digital & Consumer Officer, Pearline Soh as Head of Digital Marketing, and Enny Halim as Chief Corporate Business Officer.
