Sompo Asia Pacific has promoted Jin Sheng Ooi to Head of Accident & Health (A&H) Pricing, APAC, effective immediately, the insurer said in a LinkedIn post on Thursday, 8 July.
Ooi first joined Sompo in 2022 and has served as Appointed Actuary for Malaysia as well as in interim leadership roles in Thailand.
In his new role, Ooi is based in Singapore and reports to Mudit Gupta, Chief Actuary for APAC. “Jin will lead the A&H pricing strategy across APAC to drive product profitability and sustainable growth,” Sompo said in it announcement.
He brings 14 years of experience in strategic pricing, reserving, and portfolio optimisation across Asia’s insurance markets to the new role, including roles at WTW and MSIG Malaysia.
Sompo has made several key appointments in recent months to strengthen its APAC operations, including the appointment of Alasdair Walker as Hong Kong CEO, following the retirement of Li Sheung Kin.
