QBE Asia has appointed Tim Hough as Marine Risk Engineer, the business announced on LinkedIn on Friday (24 Oct).
Hough brings 20 years of global marine experience to the business and joins following five years with energy and marine consultancy ABL Group, where he most recently served as Principal Surveyor, H&M Manager for Singapore.
His extensive background includes work across marine surveying and ship management, LNG, product and chemical tankers, multigas operations, as well as casualty investigations and performance strategy, QBE noted, adding that “His expertise complements the strength of our existing Marine team as we continue to support clients across the region.”
The move for Hough follows a number of strategic, senior appointments by QBE over the last two months. Earlier this week, former QBE RE Managing Director Chris Killourhy was named as the group’s new CFO. Within Asia, QBE Re strengthened its Treaty proposition by tapping Cindy Foo for the newly created Head of Asia, Treaty role. Last month, QBE also named Jef Tio as its new CEO for Malaysia.
These appointments follow strong annual results from QBE, which showed a 27% rise in profit and a 6% increase in gross written premiums. The group cited lower catastrophe costs and strong results from its international and North America divisions as key factors in the performance.
