Howden has appointed Koji Aragane as Marine Director to lead its newly launched marine insurance services in Japan, the company announced on LinkedIn on 6 November.

Aragane joins Howden from Steamship Mutual’s Japan branch, where he most recently served as Senior Advisor. Before that, he was CEO of the branch. He previously held a senior management role at Assicurazioni Generali’s Japan branch.

In his new position at Howden, Aragane will develop the broker’s marine offering in the Japanese market and work with clients, underwriters and the firm’s global network.

“With a distinguished track record in maritime insurance, Koji brings strategic vision and deep industry expertise to our expanding team. This is a pivotal moment for us as we strengthen our presence in Japan and further elevate our specialty marine offerings in Asia,” the company said in its announcement.

The appointment follows recent senior hires by Howden, including News Corp’s Susan Panuccio joining the group as Chief Financial Officer and Vladimir Ljubisavljevic being named Divisional Director for its marine practice in Asia.
