Alexandros Ampatzis joins Tokio Marine Kiln as Head of Marine for APAC

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has announced Alexandros Ampatzis as Head of Marine for Asia Pacific, effective from 1 November 2024.

Ampatzis will join the specialty insurer following three and a half years with Starr Insurance, where he served as Marine Manager for South-East Asia.

He brings nearly 25 years of marine insurance industry experience, including 12 years at AXA group — first in Greece in 2009, before his move to Singapore in 2014. There he served in various senior roles, including Deputy Head of Marine Cargo Underwriting, South Asia, for AXA XL.

In his new role, Ampatzis continues to be based in Singapore and reports to Jamie Tang, Regional Underwriting Director for APAC. He is responsible for deepening TMK’s presence and continuing the team’s rapid growth in the region, which covers a broad geographical area from Australia to the Middle East.

This appointment follows the hiring of Stephanie Hong as Marine Underwriter, APAC, in September and underlines TMK’s ambitions to expand its marine offering in APAC.
