IAG subsidiary NRMA Insurance has opened applications for its 2026 Climate-Smart Innovation Grants, offering A$500k (US$360k) across eight grants for Australian climate-resilience solutions, the insurer said on 20 August.

The programme, delivered through NRMA Insurance’s Help Fund, comprises four Growth Grants of A$100k for established solutions ready to scale or deploy, and four Emerging Founder Grants of A$25k for founders whose solutions are ready for use in Australian communities.

NRMA Insurance will deliver the grants with Climate Salad, a network that supports climate technology companies. Applications opened on 14 August and close on 9 September 2026.

The insurer said it particularly encouraged applications from young founders, First Nations innovators and founders from underrepresented communities.

The inaugural Climate-Smart Innovation Grants programme backed five climate technology ventures working on flood forecasting, energy resilience and environmental monitoring. One recipient, Brisbane-based FloodMapp, used its grant to support a trial of live flood alerts through GPS navigation applications in Queensland’s Douglas and Fraser Coast regions.
