AXA XL’s Australian unit has announced two key hires to strengthen its Marine Underwriting and Claims team, the commercial insurer announced on LinkedIn.
Lawrenson joins AXA XL from QBE Insurance, bringing over 20 years of industry experience. He has held senior roles, including Head of Underwriting at QBE and Senior Underwriter at CGU Insurance. Based in Melbourne, Lawrenson is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening AXA XL’s marine offerings in the region.
Tom Hughes, Head of Marine for Australia, said Lawrenson’s extensive experience and fresh outlook will strengthen their marine offering. “He brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our Marine proposition. He will be pivotal in contributing to the execution of our growth strategy,” Hughes said.
Naveed, based in Sydney, arrives with more than a decade of experience in the insurance industry. She previously served as Senior Claims Specialist, Marine at QBE Insurance and held the role of Marine Claims Specialist at Chubb.
Rebecca Bowman, Specialty Claims Manager at AXA XL, expressed confidence in Naveed’s appointment, stating, “With 15 years of experience in claims, including seven years specialising in marine claims, Sameen’s expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our service delivery. She is well known for her dedication and professionalism.”
In May, AXA XL announced key personnel changes in Australia, including the appointments of Tylie Petrovski as Senior Claims Specialist for Property, Energy and Construction; Ilija Bogoevski as Claims Specialist; and Rebecca Williams as Claims Specialist for Property and Construction.
