Bec Smith has been appointed as an Underwriter for Newline Group’s Professional Indemnity (PI) team in Australia, the company announced on LinkedIn on Tuesday (1 Oct).
Based in Sydney, Smith joins the speciality insurer from Chase Underwriting, where she worked as a Senior Underwriter for Professional Risks for a year.
She brings over 11 years of industry experience across financial and professional lines of business and will report to Nick Beswick, Newline Australia’s Head of PI.
Smith has held numerous underwriting roles throughout her career, first entering the industry in 2013 when she joined XL Caitlin, which later became AXA XL, as a graduate development programme and then in underwriting roles until 2021. After this, she joined Ensurance as a Senior Underwriter for Professional Risks before her move to Chase Underwriting in 2023.
