Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) Australia has promoted Michael Sharkey to D&O Manager for the Northern Region and Hayden Veanes to D&O Manager for the Southern Region.
Announcing the role changes in a statement on LinkedIn, Matthew Clarke, Head of Executive & Professional Lines, said, “I am delighted to recognise the significant contributions of Michael and Hayden. Their leadership and deep understanding of the D&O landscape have been instrumental in driving our growth and success.”

Sydney-based Sharkey has been with BHSI for nearly seven years. He most recently served as Underwriting Manager for Commercial and previously held Senior Underwriter and Underwriter roles for Executive and Professional lines. He joined BHSI in October 2017 from Berkley.
Veanes, who joined BHSI at the same as Sharkey, has been working in the role of Underwriting Manager for Executive & Professional Lines since September 2023. He has also held Senior Underwriter and Underwriter roles at the business and joined BHSI from Chubb, where he worked for nearly three years.
In their new roles, Sharkey and Veanes will oversee the Directors and Officers (D&O) insurance operations in their respective regions, ensuring continued excellence in service delivery to BHSI’s customers, Clarke said in his announcement.
