(Re)in Summary

• BMS Group says the acquisition of Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers reinforces its recent international expansion, following deals in Spain and the UAE.
• Jeremy Murfin, founder of the acquired firm, will join BMS Australia as Client Director and a member of the Australian Executive Leadership Team.

Speciality (re)insurance broker BMS Group has completed the acquisition of Queensland-based Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers, the company said in a press release on Monday, 1 July. No financial details of the acquisition were disclosed.

Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers was founded in 2006 and provides risk management advice and insurance broking services to large, privately-owned organisations.

Jeremy Murfin, founder and director of Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers, will become Client Director for BMS Australia, reporting to Stephen Moore, managing director, BMS Risk Solutions QLD. Murfin will also join the Australian Executive Leadership Team.

This acquisition will add to BMS Group’s recent international M&A activity, after it completed the acquisition of Spanish broker Rasher and its Latin American subsidiaries earlier this year and acquired UAE broker Berms Brett Masaood (now BMS Masaood) in 2024, the company said.

“Jeremy has been a partner of BMS for over 20 years, so we are delighted he has now agreed to join forces with us. With his depth of experience in the specialist property space and his exceptional risk management and advisory skills, he has built an exceptional business over the last two decades with clients up and down the east coast of Australia,” Andrew Godden, CEO of BMS Australia, said.

Speaking on the acquisition, Murfin added: “The alignment with the culture, structure and resources within BMS and the decision to join them continuing and enhancing the client service delivery will deliver a better offering to clients moving forward. In joining the BMS team, I am also looking forward to sharing my business experience with BMS colleagues and the broader client base.”
