BMS Australia taps Sydney-based Georgina Reilly as General Counsel

Sydney-based Reilly takes her legal practice experience across commercial, corporate, and M&A lines to her new role.

Global specialty (re)insurance broker BMS Australia appointed Georgina Reilly as General Counsel, according to a 24 June announcement.

Sydney-based Reilly takes her legal experience to BMS, where she will report to Australia CEO Andrew Godden. She previously held private and in-house roles in the insurance industry, working across commercial, corporate, dispute resolution, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

From 2022 to 2024, Reilly served as Legal Counsel to Ardonagh Global Partners, where she focused on insurance law in cross-border M&A deals.

Speaking on the appointment, Godden said: “Her deep legal expertise leading a range of complex legal, compliance and regulatory matters and her significant industry insight will be invaluable in supporting our continued expansion in the Australian market.”

Reilly also commented on taking up the role as the business grows in Australia and stated: “I’m most looking forward to working closely with the business to support strategic initiatives and help navigate legal and regulatory challenges. I’m keen to contribute to building a strong and responsive legal function and play a role in shaping how legal adds value to the business as it scales.”
