Canopius has announced the appointment of two new underwriters to its team as part of its expansion plans in Australia: Lucy Lumb has been appointed as Underwriter, Property Coverholder and Delegated Authority, while Trisha Urquhart arrives as Underwriter for Accident & Health.
Lumb (pictured left) will report to Jeanene Hill, Head of Coverholder & Delegated Authority. She joins the Canopius team with over 19 years of industry experience in a range of senior underwriting roles, with expertise in commercial underwriting.
Prior to her appointment, Lumb was Senior Property Underwriter at DUAL New Zealand. She has also worked as Senior Commercial Underwriter at ANDO Insurance in New Zealand and Senior Commercial Property Underwriter at Pen Underwriting in Australia.
Urquhart (pictured right) will report to Suzanne White, who heads the Accident & Health team in APAC. She has 24 years of industry experience and an extensive background in claims, underwriting, insurance broking and risk management.
She joins Canopius from East West Insurance Brokers, where she was Claims & Compliance Manager. Her professional repertoire also includes a tenure as Senior Underwriter, Liability & Accident and Sickness at Ryno Underwriting, where she served as Claims Manager as well.
White expressed confidence in the abilities of both Lumb and Urquhart, stating, “Given their deep industry knowledge, coupled with their demonstrated track record of underwriting, I have no doubt they will make invaluable contributions to our fast-growing team.”
Echoing her sentiments, Hill noted, “Australia is a key strategic hub for Canopius, and we are committed to hiring the best talent so we can provide the best possible outcomes and expand our presence in the market.”
