Charles taylor strengthens apac marine capabilities with key hires

Charles Taylor on Monday (11 Nov) announced it had strengthened its Marine Technical Services (MTS) team across Asia Pacific, with a series of new appointments across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.

Allwyn D’Souza joins the loss adjuster as Senior Surveyor, based in Sydney, Australia. D’Souza brings over 46 years of experience in the marine and insurance industry, with expertise in cargo claims, hull damage, and liability cases.

In Singapore, Ong Eng Hong has been appointed as a Marine Surveyor and brings 20 years of diverse experience, across shipbuilding, conversion projects, and Marine Warranty Surveys for companies such as Chevron Thailand and Petrovietnam.

Hong Kong-based Steve Hawthorne has been named as Senior Marine Surveyor and brings 34 years of marine insurance industry experience, with expertise covering marine casualty response, heavy lift, and project cargoes.

Duan Mingxin joins the team in Shanghai, China, as a Surveyor. He has experience as a salvage engineer and project manager, having worked on projects like the design of a 150,000-tonne cruise ship and salvage operations for the Sewol sunken Ro-Ro ship in South Korea.

In addition to the new appointments, Harshvardhan Kumar was promoted to the role of Director of Marine Technical Services in Australia, reporting to Graeme Temple, the Regional Director of Marine Technical Services.

“Our new team members greatly enhance our regional capabilities, allowing us to provide a full suite of solutions to clients dealing with multifaceted marine challenges,” Temple said.

In its announcement, Charles Taylor said the new hires will strengthen its capacity to manage end-to-end complex, cross-border marine projects in the region.
