Clyde & Co on Monday announced the designation of Jessica Thurtell as partner in Sydney.

Thurtell joins the global law firm from DLA Piper, where she was most recently senior associate. A lawyer by profession, she brings more than 15 years of experience specialising in life insurance and financial lines with deep expertise in defence work in the management liability space, as well as a track record of handling significant and complex litigation for large insurers. She was also instrumental in establishing the Young Australasian Life Underwriting and Claims Association in Australia.

Commenting on the appointment, Rebecca Kelly, Australia managing partner, Brisbane, at Clyde & Co, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jessica to the firm – her arrival underlines our commitment to the continued growth of our insurance offering and services to clients, with four partner and two special counsel appointments in our specialist insurance practice over the past months.”

Thurtell’s move follows Clyde & Co appointments in 2025, including casualty law specialist Janine Clark, Yvonne Lam and Malcolm Wood, who focus on corporate insurance and regulatory matters, the partner promotion of Steven Lurie, and the hire of special counsel Kyle Bowles and Hugo Thomas.
