Crawford Thailand has named Sompong Suriwong as its new Country Manager/Director, effective from 1 November 2024. He succeeds Patipan Soodarram who will transition to the role of Chairman.
The global loss adjuster said that Soodarram had decided to reduce his responsibilities as he approaches retirement and that he and Suriwong have been collaborating for several months to ensure a smooth transition.
Suriwong began his career in 1993 as a Marine Surveyor and first joined Crawford Thailand in 1997. He has served as a Director for the past 12 years and is currently the Claim Director for the business.
“I am very confident in Khun Sompong’s ability to lead our existing successful team of adjusters in Thailand as they continue restoring lives, businesses and communities for you and your policyholders,” Asia President Scott Reichelt said in a note to clients and partners.
“Khun Sompong has an accessible leadership style and, I know, is totally committed to exceptional client experiences for you,” he added.
Suriwong’s diverse experience includes managing claims related to fire, property, engineering, liability, and business interruption and he handled complex losses following events such as the 2004 Tsunami and the 2011 flooding.
Reichelt paid tribute to the outgoing Soodarram, who has led Crawford Thailand for over a decade. “It is fair to say he has been a constant and a wonderful mentor to so many young adjusters over the years. We are particularly fortunate that he has agreed to stay on with us as Chairman, engaging with you, finding solutions to your claims challenges, keeping up his internal mentoring efforts, and assisting Khun Sompong as needed,” Reichelt said.
