Honey Insurance has appointed David Krawitz as its new chief executive officer, according to a LinkedIn announcement by company founder Richard Joffe on 15 September.

Krawitz steps into the position after being part of Honey’s board for over 18 months. He is succeeding Joffe, who is moving on to the role of Executive Chairman.

Krawitz brings over two decades of leadership experience in the insurance sector, including senior roles at Allianz Australia, where he served most recently as Chief Operating and Transformation Officer. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at McKinsey & Company as a senior financial services specialist.

Joffe, who founded Honey Insurance in 2020, will now focus on strategic opportunities for the business in his new role. With years of experience as an entrepreneur, he previously co-founded Stella Jobs and Park Assist.

Honey Insurance, established as a managing general agent, distributes home insurance policies. As of May 2024, the business had captured around 1% of Australia’s home insurance market.

“After 5 thrilling years building Honey Insurance to 130 teammates, 1 in 50 homes in Australia covered part of our mission, and the fastest-growing tech company in Australia in 2024,” Joffe said. “I’m moving to Executive Chairman to focus on strategic opportunities for Honey Insurance, which is more aligned with my passion, along with spending more time with family and friends.”
