Indian insurer HDFC ERGO has announced the promotion of Anuj Tyagi to the role of Joint Managing Director. Tyagi has been with the business for over 15 years and was Deputy Managing Director prior to his promotion.
He is credited with being influential in the organisation’s success, having guided the development of its Retail, Commercial, and Rural business. He also played a role in the successful merger of Apollo Munich Health Insurance Company with HDFC ERGO, completed in January 2020.
Tyagi commented on the promotion to say he was “proud to be a part of the company’s growth trajectory, which is striving to become India’s second-largest private general insurance player with a focus on customer experience excellence”. Ritesh Kumar, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC ERGO, said that Tyagi “has been a key factor in HDFC ERGO’s growth journey” and that “his experience and knowledge of the industry will be very beneficial in taking the Company forward.”
HDFC ERGO is a joint venture between HDFC and ERGO International AG, one of the insurance entities of Munich Re. The P&C insurer was recently recognised as being one of BFSI’s ‘2023 Top 25 India’s Best Workplaces’.
