Kim Soon Chua has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Association at Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM), effective 7 October 2024. He succeeds Julie Lean Gim Chong, whose tenure ended on 4 October.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Chua joins Malaysia’s general insurance association after working for Gibraltar BSN Life for over five years, where he most recently took on the role of Chief Operations Officer.

A Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) since 1984, Chua will bring 40 years of industry experience to his new role. During his extensive career, he has assumed senior executive, managerial, and operations positions for companies across Singapore, India, and Malaysia. Some of the firms he has worked at include numerous AXA Group companies, including AXA Insurance Singapore and Bharti AXA General Insurance, as well as ACE Jerneh Insurance.

In its press release, PIAM said: “PIAM’s Chairman, Ng Kok Kheng and its Board Directors welcome Kim Soon and look forward to working together to advance PIAM’s vision as a dynamic trade association by collaborating closely with stakeholders to support various initiatives within the industry.”

“His focus on catering to diverse clients and distribution channels in both Life and General Insurance sectors has equipped him with a global perspective and deep understanding of various market dynamics,” PIAM added.
