Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has elevated Shri Doraiswamy Ramchandran to Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, the state-run life insurer said in a LinkedIn post on Monday, 14 July.
A notification from India’s Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, confirmed the appointment, following the approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister.
Doraiswamy brings more than 38 years of experience across operations, marketing, technology, and insurance academics.
Prior to the promotion, Doraiswamy held various leadership positions within the LIC, including most recently as one of its Managing Directors. He also previously served as Executive Director (Information Technology/Software Development), Regional Manager (Marketing/Chief Life Insurance Advisor), and Regional Manager (Pension and Group Schemes) at the Southern Zonal Office, Chennai.
Doraiswamy succeeds Siddhartha Mohanty, whose term ended on 7 June 2025. His appointment as CEO and MD is for a 3-year term ending 28 August 2028, or until he turns 62, whichever comes first.
